Location: Holland, Tx | When I was looking at water tanks and water pumps, I also came across many other accessories. The strainer makes sense as a wise/necessary investment. Pump: http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-pumps-water/shurflo-pumps.htm http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-pumps-water/rv-water-pumps.htm Strainer: http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-pumps-water/shurflo-pump-strainer.htm My question is...are things like a pressure regulator, accumulator tank or in-line filter necessary??? |

Location: Henderson, TN 38340 | I don't see the need for a pressure regulator unless you install a very large pump. The pump I bought had a pressure switch mounted on it. This regulates the flow. when I turn on the faucet, the pressure drops, and the pump kicks on. When I close the faucet the pressure increases untill the switch in the pump shuts off. I did add a accumilator. This stoped the pump from cycling rapidly on and off when the flow at the faucet was on low. The accumilator allow a larger time and greater flow between pump cycles. Turfa |

Location: Cheyenne,Wy | The pressure Regulator and filter are good ideas. Use the regulator at all RV parks . There are alot of parks that run high water pressure to get every one in the park water . This destroys the water line fittings in trailers. The strainer will just keep anything out of your pump and water system. The accumulator tank just stores alittle water under pressure to help keep your water pump from woking so hard . But isnt needed the pumps are made to work without them. |

Location: Holland, Tx | Is the filter serve the same purpose as a filter like for a Brita water filter/pitcher? |

Location: Texas | No, the filter is just a wire mesh strainer that goes before the pump. Keeps stuff that could damage the pump from getting into it. |

I think what you are calling a filter is actually what the strainer is... Here's a link to filters: http://www.shurflo.com/pages/RV/rv_categories/water_filter/waterFiltrationProd.html#inline |

Location: Texas | Hmmmm.... I haven't seen those before. Yes, looks like they do the same as a Brita or something like that would do. |
