Location: western PA | This was recently sent to me and I wanted to share it with those of you who haven't yet seen it: 1. My life is likely to last 20 or more years. Any separation from you will
be painful for me. Remember that before you take me home.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial to my well being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long. Don't lock me up as punishment. You
have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I have only you.
5. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I do
understand your voice when it is speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
7. Remember before you hit me that I am powerful enough to hurt you, but
choose not to.
8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask
yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I have a problem that
you are not yet aware of.
9. Take care of me when I am old. You too will be old one day.
10. Go with me on the last journey. Never say "I can't bear to watch or Let
it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there.

Location: La Cygne, KS | Wonderful! I've got a 27 year-old Arab that I have cherished for over 20 years. He deserves the special treatment... chiropractic care, every 6 month dental check/float, orchard grass hay that is easier for him to chew (which is hard to find around my area) and pounds of equine senior. I do this for him because he has given me his all whenever I have asked him. Not too mention unconditional love. Whenver I hollar "Hey Baby" he always nickers back at me. Who cannot love that! |

Location: Farmville, VA | Thanks for the reprint! Every time my wonderful husband brings up the expense of my beloved equine, I kindly remind him that "he" (the horse that is) is cheaper than therapy or a divorce! I usually get no other coments. |

Location: western PA | This afternoon we had our thirty one year old TB mare put down. We followed rules nine and ten per the commandments, and feel very much better for having done so. Our pets don't ask much and offer unconditional love. They deserve dignity and respect during and after their lives. We are most fortunate to enjoy the very special relationship only a pet owner can appreciate. We are blessed with these friends; and the sharing of these bonds. Thanks for listening. Gard |

Location: Kansas | Gard-We've had to put two down now; a 32 year old and a 30 year old. As painful as it was, I felt I owed it to them to be there. Thank you for sharing the commandments. |
