All the spec sheets I rec'd from various conversion companies listed the water pump as "12 volt pump". Does this mean they are running off battery power OR does it have to do with something else?

Since I'm probably not going to go with battery power, would I need a different pump for my sink/shower?

Yes they run off the battery or an inverter.

Yes, both are replacements for the 12v versions. The "Park" models are for smaller mobile home trailers, that are usually set up on a lot as a second home, and not usually moved again. These pumps would supply a water flow and pressure similar to what you have in your house.

Mandi, seriously rethink this.  You will not regret having your lights and your water pump and other small items running off of dc (battery).  The best situation is to have both batteries and a generator.  The lights, water pump, elect/hyd jack all run off of the batteries.  Appliances (coffee, micro, tv, hairdryer) run off of the ac (genset).  BUT, the genset also charges the batteries, thereby keeping them all juiced up to run that pump and those lights and your jack.  There are many situations where you will not be able to or want to fire up that genset just to wash your hands or use the lights.

And again, I cannot stress this enough - do NOT depend on your truck battery to power anything in your trailer if you can help it.  There is nothing worse than coming back to your trailer after a 5 hour ride to realize you've left the trailer lights on and your truck battery is dead because of it.

Thanks.

A friend was going to do the installation for us and he is the one who recommended against the batteries. The more I read, the more I want them and the more they make sense. I want to be able to wash my hands if needed without running the gen.

In my experiences, a design by committee is doomed to failure. The person yelling the loudest may not be the smartest. The person that most needs information can be bullied into a decision that may not be appropriate. Each person has his own idea about what is best. The result is usually a series of conflicts, with the final goal not being accomplished correctly.

Fortunately, in this forum are a number of experienced people, who have had encountered similar circumstances and have come to matching conclusions. They are a wealth of information and are very valuable to all of us. Our questions are usually replied to with intelligence and consideration. Not too many readers of other forums are as fortunate as we are.

That's why I am still visiting this site, but tend to avoid others associated with it.
