Location: Texas | I have a 3/4 ton dodge hemi that I currently pull a 17' (floor) 4 star two horse GN. What I really need now is a 4 horse trailer (7'6" tall, 7'6" wide) but I'm not sure if this will be too much for my truck or not. I am looking at the featherlite big horse trailer as I will be hauling warmbloods but I can't find the weight of this trailer anywhere. Thoughts? What do you all pull with a 3/4 truck? |

Location: North Carolina | Hello .. Welcome to the forum ... This kind of question gets asked alot... The correct answer is in your truck's ratings. Don't let Internet keyboard jockeys or trailer dealer "experts" make your decision. The important ratings are GCVWR or Gross Combined Weight Rating. This is the total weight of your "LOADED" truck AND "LOADED" trailer. The other important rating is the REAR axle weight rating. When you're fully loaded, this weight should not be exceeded. Ignoring this factor will cause you to have a truck that squats like a puppy and imminent mechanical failure. A 3/4 T truck can tow more weight than a dually, but it can't carry the hitch weight like a dually can. It all depends on how you use and load the truck/trailer combination. |

Location: Allegan, Michigan | Look at your vehicle manual. It should be under the driving section. At least in my Ford manual it tells me. My F250 crew cab turbo diesel is rated up to 20k. But I have a superduty with the maximum towing package, and it is a 2004. Your best bet is to look it up. Good luck! |

| I have f250 extended cab with full box, gas 450 engine. I use it to pull my 18 ft steel Titan Renegrade 3 horse gn trailer. I did the numbers and I found that when I haul 4 horses in it that I am legally over wt. The pickup has no problem pulling the wt. I never realized this for I have hauled 4 horses quite abit within a 2 hour distance from me. I knew however, when I hauled 5 horses in the trailer to the local trail ride that is 10 miles from me that I was over wt but never thought I was legally over with 4. My pickup hauls 5 horses just fine as well. You do notice more of a wt back there when pulling but it pulls it fine. So, what I am saying is that with 3 horses you are legal. Over that and you are overwt. I bet alot of people don't realize this. Also want to say that this is this the horse wts alone and not if you have a lq ect..

Location: Texas | Looked it up and my maximum loaded trailer weight is 9200lbs. (quite a bit less than I was hoping for!) I figure with horses alone I am about 5200lbs and that is not including the weight of the trailer and tack etc... Guess I may be looking for a used 1 ton diesel before too long... |

Not sure of the intent of your message, but the folks here don't have much tolerance for pot-stirrers. The credibility of such posts declines progressively in relation to the amount of spelling errors.

Having the caps lock is considered rude, but then again, you wished to stir the pot, so we are obliging you. You have to get a sense of humor! Stressing like that will only land you in the hospital with high blood pressure. Happy Holidays! |
