Location: tn | can my 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive / auto / chevy silverado haul my 28' total length silver star starlite supreme trailer. it is a 3h slant. my hubby has the 3/4 ton truck and all i have is the 1/2 ton and now i just boght this trailer and i need to know if i now need a 3/4 truck too!!! |

| I can tell you what I'd do based on experience.(Personal.) When I had to trailer,I think I'd be borrowing his 3/4T truck. Hauling is no problem.Stopping is,however. |

Location: Farmville, VA | Your truck should pull it (slowly), but won't have the stopping power needed. We had the same situation here a few years back ~ just leave him with a little extra gas so he'll be willing to swap out for your next trip! Made the mistake of leaving ours on empty ~ cost me more than just gas! Ha Ha! |

Location: sc | Here we go again!!! What is wrong with you guys brakes? If the truck is not over the GVWR it will stop as intended. If it wont stop you better get ALL your brakes checked. I suspect the problem would be payload in this situation, not brakes. |

Location: Farmville, VA | You are correct, my term "breaks and stopping power" should have been more specific. Payload as it relates to stoping power - not break power. The 3/4 HD is still a better choice. |

Location: Western WA | Is this the same trailer you are posting about having the awning problem, and is a LQ trailer? You need to compare the weight of the fully loaded trailer with the towing capacity of your truck. Nobody can answer your question based just on on brand of trailer and 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton classification of your truck. Too many variables. |

Location: tn | yes this is the ame trailer. the l/q area only has 3 boot boxes and a small fridge with a cabinet over the window, nothing else inside it like most l/q have. thnaks for everyones advice, i just want to be safe and i do like the idea of a truck swap, but it will always cost more than just the gas!!! |

Location: Newton, NJ | I would say you need to specify which engine and rear you have in your 1/2 ton Chevy, and also need to know if you have in your towing package. I have an '03 1500 GMC Sierra. The tow capacity for a GN is listed at 7900 lbs. I also have a Silver Star Starlite Supreme (2 horse with a 3.5 ft short wall) which weighs approx 3300 lbs unloaded. Add 2 horses and tack, feed, camping equipment, etc. and I'm getting pretty close to the 7900# limit. There is a significant difference when I only haul 1 horse. I think you will be pushing the safety limit with your 1/2 ton, but that's just my humble opinion. |
