Location: Sharpsburg, Georgia | Last week I posted, with a problem with my inside lights on my sundowner bp trailer. I got a suggestion to check my fuse, which I did, and it fixed my problem, until, I tried to turn on the inside lights last night, it blew the fuse again, when I would put on my right truck blinker, my left horse trailer blinker would come on too crazy I replaced the fuse which should have been a 30 amp with a 40 b/c they didn't have any 30 amp, and it was dark and I needed lights, while this worked for the marker lights, it still didn't work for the inside.Any suggestions, maybe moisture in my 6 prong plug?Any help is appreciated.Thanks |

| Did this problem just start? How long have you had the trailer? Do you use this truck to pull any other trailers? Answers to these question may help us find a solution! |

Location: Sharpsburg, Georgia | Yes problem just started this trailer is a 2003 which I purchased used, before that I used a 2000 super bee trailer that was pulled with the same truck. I purchased the truck and bee trailer new. |

Location: western PA | I believe you said you were using an adapter plug. I would suggest purchasing a new male plug to fit your truck. It sounds as if the trailer plug wiring is incorrect and should be rewired to fit your truck. With a new plug you can make sure each wire is correctly positioned, and you can eliminate the adapter. My truck and trailers all have placards showing the wiring diagrams. Exiss and perhaps other manufacturers also post theirs on the internet. Once both plugs are compatable and wired correctly, if you have any further problems, it is much easier to trouble shoot the individual problem. Napa sells circuit breakers that fit into a standard fuse slot. Once the short is removed, ( the power is off) the breaker automatically resets, This makes circuit testing a little easier. When you have several issues going on at the same time, it is difficult to determine the exact cause. By pulling your plugs apart and determining which wires are correctly indexed, you can quickly conclude which one (s) are the problem. BOL Gard |

Location: Central Arkansas | I personally have had the same expereince as n2qrthorse is having. the rig went back to the dealership several times before we just gave in and eliminated the 6 to 7 prong adapter totally. That sure solved our problems immediately. No more blown fuses, no more lighting issues, and no time consuming wasted trips to the dealer, either. Seems the issue was in the adaptor itself. |

Location: Sharpsburg, Georgia | Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.Did I understand your post correctly that you replaced the 6 prong with a 7 prong or you did something totally different from the prong adapter, if so would you please let me know what you did.I called Sundowner and they told me it sounds as though there are wires touching on my truck.I would take it to the Sundowner dealership, but it is about an hour and a half from me.Thanks again. |

Location: Lavaca, Alabama | I recently had some problems with some lights on my trailer not working. And then, nothing worked at all. I checked my fuses and one was blown. Replaced it and quickly blew another one. Three hours and several fuses later, I traced it down to the plug in the side of my truck. When I pulled it out, I realized that the screws holding the wires in had come loose and the hot wire was able to touch the metal housing, and every time it did, the fuse blew. I re tightened everything there, and it fixed my problem. I am still looking for a better made plug for the truck side that has something to hold the wires besides just the little screws at the end. |
