I have a 2004 Dodge 1500 hemi short box, I am looking to buy a 2 Horse Sundowner 777 Gooseneck (No Lq) will my truck pull this trailer? Is the short box too short for this trailer? Its 6ft 9 wide?

Most of the time I only haul one horse, maybe two.

I pulled a 3horse Sundowner GN with my 1500 Dodge with a short bed for a couple of years. It pulled fine and stopped ok I live in Florida where there aren't any mountains though. I had extra leaf springs put on mine. I am not sure where you live but mine with only 2 horses would be very iffy somewhere with long grades. It pulled it fine with plenty of turning room but stopping somewhere besides here would be a little scary. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

According to the info I have from Dodge, a 2004 Ram 1500 Reg. cab with a 5.7L Hemi is rated to pull a max of 9,200 lbs.

If it's a 4X4 Reg cab = 8950lbs
Quad Cab 4X2 = 8900 lbs
Quad Cab 4X4 = 8600lbs.

that's the MAXIMUM Trailer Weight. Add the empty weight of the trailer to 2200 lbs for your two horses and a couple of hundred for tack and hay. As long as the total is at or under the numbers above for your truck, and you s/b fine.

As for the short box, there are several devices that you can use that set the gn hitch back about 9 inches. I have one made by Pop-Up. That works just fine.

I'm a Sundowner dealer and the trailer you specified weighs about 4200 lbs empty.  Based on the other responses showing your truck capacity, you should be ok for loaded weight.

All Sundowners have "V noses" so they provide plenty of turning radius with the gooseneck truck hitch in the standard position as the trailer was designed to be pulled with a short bed truck, so you shouldn't have any concerns ther either.
