Location: Brooksville, Fl | If you tent camp or have a LQ trailer or whatever...search the Southwest Florida Water Management District. There you will find several places to camp one of which is Green Swamp West. Also the state parks...Alafia River State Park is one of my favorites. There is also Tillis Hill in the Withlacoochee State Forest in the Citrus Tract. There is camping on the Florida Greenways Trails in the Ocala area also. There are LOTS of places to camp in Florida. It all just depends on where you would like to go. I'm heading up to the BSF in Tn on Sat...hoping for some cooler weather! Happy Trails, Tammy |

Location: Allegan, Michigan | Dunoir: Actually we are getting ready to purchase a trailer with 12ft lq with a slide, so yes we will have LQs. Just thought a B & B would be nice as well. Maybe mix it up a bit. Thanks to all for the input. We are hoping to head down there in February time frame.

Location: Coconut Creek, FL | Having a LQ gives you way more options. Besides the places already mentioned, primitive campsites include Shangri-La trailhead on the Fla Greenways, Lake Louisa State Park, Goethe: Tidewater trailhead, Princess Place off I95 near St. Augustine, McCulley's Farm (Twin River STate Forest), & Lake Panasofkee are all nice. We're heading out next Fri to camp at Tidewater for 5 days, then to Tillis Hills in the Citrus Withlacoochie Forest for another 5 days. Florida is chock full of places to ride and camp, but the scenery isn't spectacular like up north and out west - but you can ride year round though the prime camp season is Oct - April. There is a nice book out by Corneila Henderson Florida on Horseback volume I covers from Ocala to the Keys and she has volume II coming out in Nov that covers the rest of Fla. I helped her with the book, 8 of my photos are in it and she thanked me in the dedication so I am partial to it of course, but it's an excellent guide. check it out on Amazon.com We have an excellent state park system, 5 water management systems that all have places to ride & camp, private places, state forests, and wildlife management areas - but you gotta check hunt dates for those ones before going. Goethetrail that also responded is the person responsible for all the great trails in the Goethe Forest - we need people like her to help mediate with govt officals.

Location: Allegan, Michigan | Thank you to everyone, and Dunoir I ordered the first book as suggested. We are hoping to head down there in April when my husband is home on leave from Afghanistan. Hopefully won't be dreadfully hot down there then. |

Location: Milton, FL | April, May and October are the best times here in Florida. I'm in NW Florida and the temps are abnormally warm for us right now but usually in the 70's. Enjoy your trip! |
