Location: Cherokee, Ia | Hey, all you southerners out there, please listen up....I live in Iowa, and my best friend from Virgina went trail riding over Labor Day weekend and her horse spooked at something, bucked and bolted away. They have not been able to find him yet. So, I am asking all you great North Carolina horse lovers to help. They were riding in the Uwharrie National Forest, and camped at Canebreak Horse Camp. The gelding she had is around 15.1 hands, big sorrel with crooked blaze and 3 white socks, 14 yr old Arabian and name is Sonny. He's still ( when he took off) wearing her mahogany with black seat barrel saddle, with a blue saddle blanket, along with headstall and halter. It happened about 3pm on Sunday, September 2nd. She has local people helping look for him and I am just hoping he turns up at somebody's farm or something. If you happen to spot him, PLEASE call me at 712-229-3354 or Diane at 540-312-3674 in Virginia. My friend is an avid horsewoman, endurance rider and it would be wonderful for any information you possibly have to get in touch with her or myself. Thanks for reading this!!!! |

Location: Cherokee, Ia | Just to let you all know, my friend called me at 1:30pm today...she just got a call from NC...........THEY FOUND SONNY!!! Alive and well, a littl beat up and bruised, but nothing serious!! They are going looking for the saddle later, figure he ripped it off in the trees when he first ran off. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.....see what positive thinking can do!!!! Plus thanks to any of you who went looking with Diane last weekend, and in between. They found him next to a pasture with other horses I guess. don't know how far he was from where he first ran off, but at least he survived!!!! |

Location: Cherokee, Ia | Talked to Diane this afternoon. Sonny was pretty spooked when they got to him, but loaded in the trailer okay, and "knew" his owner. She said a few patches of hair was missing, especially on his chest, a little bloody here and there, but no serious injuries. Had plenty to eat in the grassy areas around there. They figured he went over the mountain on the other side, crossed the river somehow and found a pasture next to some fenced horses. Figured he was about 6 miles from the forest. It'll probably take awhile before he wants a saddle on his back again, since the other one was ripped off in the trees, but I think he'll do just fine!! Thanks for all your concerns and well wishes!! Happy riding!!! Thanks to NET POSSE.COM for getting the word out on Sonny!! I know this helped!!!

Location: Columbia, KY | That's wonderful news!! I lost 2 horses once and just for 1/2 a day and was worried sick... I can only imagine how she felt when he was gone for several days. It's nice to hear happy endings. |
