Location: high desert, CA. | Boy... I wonder if they WERE talking 2006!! Here in the Alfalfa growing area of Calif, I am paying about $200.00 a ton at the field, and since I feed 4-way grain hay as well, that is $230 a ton!! Delivery would add about $50 dollars and most growers won't deliver less than 156 bales which is a truck load. With only two horses, and a very small storage area, I can only handle about 80 bales. These ARE 110 lb, 3 string bales and are the top quality, but the cost is horrible. I heard from a gal I talked to in Los Angeles, she paid $280 per ton!! and not the best quality either! She is buying from a grower about 60 miles away to even get a decent price, she has 8 horses and needs to keep a good amout around. |
