Location: TX | Anyone have one of those Champion 3500 generators that is a Honda knockoff? Are they loud? Any problems with it? |

Location: Claxton, Ga. | I have one and yes it is on the load side. An inverter type would be much quieter but for the money the Champion works great. No issues with mine. If you have the money get a Kipor, Yamaha, or a Honda inverter generator. They are about 2000 dollars. |

Location: TX | Thanks for the reply. That's the whole problem,..I can't really justify spending $2000 for something that I won't use that often. I have heard and read good things about the Champion but wanted to hear from people that actually use them or have heard them. What all can you run with it? ( A/C, microwave, etc?) How long will the A/C run on a tank of gas? Originally written by Spooler on 2007-08-07 1:51 PM

Location: Claxton, Ga. | I meant the loud side but not as loud as most. Run the A/C and everything else just not the A/C and the Microwave at the same time because it is a 3500w. Haven't spent the night in it yet but it will run overnight on a tank from what I have read on RV.net. A couple more people on here have them. The reason I bought this one was also because of cost and the amount I will use it. I wasn't going to spend 2000 dollars that's for sure. |

Location: Texas | I have the Champion 3500W generator. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the noise level the first time I started it up. But, I do not camp with it, either. I use it for projects around my place where it is handier than multiple extension cords. I have used it in weather from -15F to 95F and always has started on the first or second pull. I have probably 50 hours on mine and have been also pleasantly surprised with the fuel consumption. Why do you say they are a Honda knockoff? I would say that nothing about mine resembles a Honda, except that electricity comes out of the plug, just like the Honda. |

| Can anyone describe what an "inverted" generator is?
We just bought our first LQ trailer and we need to get a generator. Very surprised at the high cost. Everyone loves the Honda so thanks for telling us that the Yamaha and Kipor is also a quiet unit.
Also, has anyone heard of a place where you can buy refurbished or remanufactured units? |

Location: Southern New Mexico | The inverter generators are the ones that have a constant power out put and are safe for electronics. TV, DVD players, computers and such. |

Can anyone describe what an "inverted" generator is? ? Actually the term is "inverter" An inverter is an electronic circuit that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). The generator is used to produce Direct Current that the inverter circuit uses to make the 120 volt 60 cycle Alternating Current your TV, microwave, etc uses. The DC generator doesn't have to run at 3600 rpm or some multiple of 60 like most generators/alternators do. Therefore it can run slower and quieter. The inverter circuit can also be a cleaner source of power for electronics since the output frequency doesn't change with engine speed... |
