Location: Carson City, MI | I saw a post on this with some suggestions however no instructions. My mare's tail is yellow on the bottom and I need to get it cleaned up. I have tryed purple whitening shampoo however it didn't do the trick, helped but it is still yellow. Her fake tail looks silly because it goes white, yellow, white. I saw that some people use oxi-clean but what type, liquid or powder? Do you leave it on? Thanks for any help, Megan |

Location: White Mills, Ky. | I have used oxi-clean powder. Mix it into a paste about the thickness of a milkshake and coat the hair strands. Leave it on for @ 15 minutes, preferably out in the sun. RIDE ON! |

| If I recall this came from the Horse Journal...how to get a white tail white. Wash first with Ivory dish soap (or whatever shampoo actually will do), rinse, wash again, rinse. Then add a capful of bluing in a bucket of water and apply and let sit for 5 min. on the hair. Rinse with water, then vinegar. Then rinse again and condition. Don't use too much bluing or let it sit too long as it can turn your white hair smurf blue! I have tried this and it is the bluing that does the trick and it does work well. |

Location: Maine | I tried the peroxide/baking soda thing on my horse's tail. It didn't work for me. Then I tried something called White Knight shampoo which did work fairly well, still the yellow tail ends still remained. So I took out my trusty can of Shapley's White Show Touch up and sprayed it on and brushed well to mix it all through. Ta - da! Worked like a charm. Location: Romulus, Michigan |  I agree with the Shapley's spray on touch up. It doesn't dry out the hair and lasts for awhile. You can get it at World Champion or National Bridle. |
