Location: Brooksville, Fl | Has anyone been to Ft Mountain State Park in Georgia and camped there? I am interested in how the drive is to get into the park. I was told the road is very windy and precarious so I was looking for someone with first hand knowledge of the drive. Thanks so much! Tammy |

Location: Cartersvillle, Georgia | Tammy, Yes the road to the park is winding and narrow. Should youi have a large rig you might consider somewhere else. The camping is on top of a hill, not very level and they offer water and electric. The barn last we where there is real nice. The trails leave little to be desired. They have become very very rocky over the years. We did not reallt care for the trails. You may try Hard Labor creek? Real nice riding, o.k. on the other amenities. See that you are coming from Brooksville, Fl? Had you thought about the Smokies or Big South Fork? |

Location: Brooksville, Fl | Hi Element, Thanks very much for the info. We are actually going to the BSF and we were going to go to Ft Mtn on the way home. Do you know of any parks in Eastern Ga that have decent facilities and would make for a nice weekend on our way back? Hard Labor Creek is a place I would like to go but is a bit out of the way for this trip. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Tammy |

Location: Cartersvillle, Georgia | Hard Labor Creek would be Eastern Ga.Sorry but that would be the only one that we are aware of. How about northern Fl.Or South Carolina? Georgia has just a few place for camping with horses. Where in BSF are you going to? There is SO Much good riding in Tennessee. |

Location: Coconut Creek, FL | GA also has Watson Mills and Willis Knob - I haven't been but friends went recently. You'd need to look them up to see where in Ga they are. SC has two places we're going next spring - Lakeview Plantation and Broxton Bridge Plantation. Both are very close to I95. Hard Labor is really nice and worth the stop. |

Location: Tennessee | For sure do not go to Fort Mountain, the place was really run down and impossible to get into if you have a fairly large rig. Gravel roads, bare hill, ditches that will tear out your tanks, etc. ......The trails are awful, nothing but rock. Hard Labor is really nice and you would not be disappointed even if you have to go out of your way to get there. We were very impressed with the whole park. A lady we met at one of the camps recommended Watson Mill Bridge State Park and Track Rock, both are in Georgia, not sure if they would be on your way or not. Cathy |

Location: Ft. Lawn, South Carolina | You will like Lakeview...just not in the summer!! You should be fine in the early spring though. (Summer has lots of gnats,etc., but then that is the lower part of S.C.) |
