Hello everyone!  I'm going to be leaving on my 4th of July run tonight and I have a 2000 Bruton 3h GN with a weekender package.  I will be hauling two horses and about 5 bales of hay.  I thought I would put the hay in the empty slot in the trailer.  My question is which slots are the best ones to put my horses in?  Does it matter?  I was thinking in terms of weight distribution.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I like putting the hay in the slot next to the LQ wall and then putting the horses behind the hay in slot 2&3 putting the weight over the axles.

I agree with ggrimm01. With the partial LQ, you should have enough weight up front. And putting hay in the middle stall or rear stall, then having to move it to unload/load is a pain in the rear. Do you have a rear tack room? If so, the horse in the last stall has to stand in place, which is good. Without a rear tack room, the horse in the last stall could turn around or stand at the back door and offset some weight, which may play into your decision.

I use the first stall closest to the LQ for storage if need be (hay, etc) for ease in loading and unloading horses.  I want to be able to get my horse out without unloading hay - safety factor.

We drove 18 hours out to the world horse show without a care in the world.  Four horse trailer with three horses in the back and the hay in the first slot/stall next to the living quarters.  It makes it so easy to travel because you can access the hay for refills thru the escape door and don't have to move everything around once you get to the show.  Good luck and I think you will find that this is how the majority of people travel!

Another vote for the storage in front and the horses in back. best weight distribution and easiest/safest horse loading & unloading.
