Hi y'all.  I've got a 1997 steel stock trailer that is starting to rust.  It's black, so I wouldn't mind repainting it a lighter color anyway!  I'm not likely to keep it more than another couple years... I want to move up to a stock/combo or enclosed trailer but for now this will do the trick.  I just want to stop the rusting process.

I can't afford to take it for professional painting.  I'm hoping there's something I can spray on with minimal prep time (some sanding but not down to bare metal) that will be opaque, and serve as both the primer and the topcoat?  It doesn't have to be glossy, it can look home-done.

If you have any products to recommend, can you please include a link??  Thanks!

Rust Converter.  You can buy it where-ever you can buy auto paint in spray cans.   You can find it in many hardware stores like TrueValue or Ace.  Spray it on and it will turn rust into black primer.  Good luck!

YES RUST CONVERTOR SPRAY WORKS GREAT FOR WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO. I WOULD TRY TO SAND DOWN THE ROFF AREAS FIRST THEN SPRAY ON THE CONVERTOR. AFTER A FEW DAYS YOU MAY WISH TO WIPE IT OFF WITH SOAP AND WATER , THEN COVER WITH ENAMEL SPRAY PAINT. THIS WILL STOP ANY RUST.
