| Most affordable is to borrow your buddies...... Seriously though when I was a kid everyone used a pickup to haul horses. Very few had trailers around here. If they did have a trailer a two horse rust bucket was fancy. |

Location: Zionsville, Indiana | Us oldtimers have all done this. The only thing you didn't see was the three bales of hay/straw that we stacked behind the truck so the horses could jump in. Their racks are a lot nicer than ours ever were. |

Location: Arkansas | M first show horse traveled all over like this, shows, parades, queen contests.......and most everybody else did the same thing... My dad picked a stallion up at the King Ranch for one of the Rockerfellas, same kind of rig from WinRock farms! |

Location: Odenville, Alabama | We had some folks in 4H when I was a kid who had old wooden slats on the side and they'd haul 2 horses to the local shows already tacked up and ready to jump off. These scudders would jump on . . . and then jump off. |

Location: Monroe, WA | Yep, I remember when EVERYBODY hauled horses in stockracks..... and we felt like we were livin' in high cotton when we got a 16 ft stock trailer. The old man's 17 hand rope horse thought he'd died and gone to heaven.I rode a good little red dun gelding who you could NOT load into a trailer, but if you dropped the tailgate of the pickup he would jump right in - with or without side racks! He'd stand with his head over the cab like a big dog.Those were the good old days..... |

Location: Coconut Creek, FL | Back in the 60's. we used to haul our large pony in it when we were kids. Dad would back up to a ditch so it was level and Dandy would jump right in... He put up temporary sides and plywood on the floor. He only weighed about 650 lbs. We stayed local though... Later on, I had a QH that I hauled in a friend's stock truck and he'd jump right in it, but would baulk at an enclosed trailer. |

We had a gelding like that too (he's 29 now), he was a ranch horse from Texas and we figured he must have been hauled in a stock rack. If you walked him near a pickup truck with the tailgate down, he'd want to jump up there.
