Location: Grayson Co. Texas | I learned a valuable lesson this past weekend that I wanted to share with fellow 4 Star owners. We returned home from a weekend trip and as my wife (yes, my wife) was backing the trailer into the shop, I heard the awful sound of air rushing out of the left rear tire. After futher investigation, I found that the brass valve stem had been eaten away by the beauty ring. I don't know why anyone would configure hubcaps like 4 Star. What I found happened was, the two fake lug nuts had become a little loose. This allowed the inner beauty ring to every so slightly shift and after the trip had eaten into the valve stem. Makes me want to go by some alcoa wheels. Bottom line, check your fake lug nuts so you don't end up in the middle of nowhere. We were lucky enough that it didn't happen until we were in the drive way. Just a quick visual to see if your valve stem is in the middle of your beauty ring hole will probably suffice. Good Luck |

Location: Maryland | Thank you for the information. I just bought a 4 Star. What year is your trailer ? I guess all of them are the same, no matter what year they are ? Glad I read this, I plan on making a 5 hour trip in the next month. Thanks again !!! |

Location: PA | I think this is good advice for any trailer owner. This can happen to ANY trailer that has wheel simulators, not just 4-Star. I don't think 4-Star makes the hub caps, they are universal to all trailer brands. In my opinion I would ease up on statements like "I don't know why anyone would configure hubcaps like 4 Star" |

Location: Grayson Co. Texas | There's alway someone to slam on something that someone says. I apologize for not hiring an attorney to proof read my posting. Let me restate this for the professionals that I love my 4 star trailer and that "IF THEY DON'T DESIGN THEM" then more power to them. I realize that some parts are purchased from other manufacturers. I was simply stating that with mine, they managed to vibrate around onto the valve stem. So if you own a CM bumper pull or a 10 horse 4 star with wheel simulators, I would check those frequently. 4 star may not make them but after a couple of phone calls, they have found out that this can be a problem and they have gone to different shape holes in the wheel simulators. So this says that they don't want this to happen to you. This is why you'll see I don't post much becuase there's alway seems to be a lawyer around the corner. And I'm suprised with your wealth of knowledge that this is your first post, I'm not suprised it was correcting someone else.

Location: PA | Agreed you are grumpy, I had two points, point 1 was to make sure all trailer owners know this could be a problem, not just 4-star owners. And point 2 is that the post could have been done without mentioning brands. FYI- I have absolutly No affiliation with 4-Star or a law firm........ |

Location: Grayson Co. Texas | I don't post all that much, but I wanted to follow up with this issue that I had on the beauty rings. We purchased our trailer used ie...not in warranty. My wife called 4 star directly and they were very nice to her. She called to see if this had been an issue. She was told that this has happened in the past. She was also ready to purchase the new styles they are using now. No Need, they shipped FREE a complete new set of beauty rings, center caps and all hardware. The new one's have more of a oval shape and are kind of bent over so as the sharp edge doesn't touch the stem. There are also less holes. Kudo's to 4star. |
