Do you know the gear ratio of the rear end, do you have a transmission cooler, and what type of terrain, what time of year?

I have no idea of the gear ratio of the rear end and I don't believe it has a transmission cooler. I would like to tow a trailer and 1 horse from Austin, Texas to Guadalajara, Mexico. Approximately 15 hours and 1000 miles. Most of the drive would be on highway. What are your thoughts???

If the trailer is a Brenderup, you'll more than likely be fine and you won't even need a brake controller - it's built into the coupler. If it's a full-size 2-horse BP, you would be much happier with a better tow vehicle. If you insist on making the trip anyway, I would highly suggest a weight distribution hitch to help with the short wheelbase and don't forget to pack lightly.

I'd check your owners manual for maximum towing capacity.   When you add up the weight of trailer, horse, tack, feed, etc. I'd bet you are pushing the limit if not exceeding.

It states a maximum of 4800 lbs for the 4x2 version...so I would assume if you have the 4x4 it would be less...I would also assume if you do not have a transmission cooler, you will pay in the long run with a transmission rebuild...

Getting animals through TX right now into Mexico will be hard.  You should contact Carla Everett with the TX state agriculture commission to learn the new bans on travel.
