I purchased a new to me (used) truck about two months ago,  every time I pull my trailer with the truck I notice that the battery level in the trailer drops and will eventually drain it down low.   I havent had a chance to check the wiring out yet, although all turns signals and brake lights work correctly.  Not sure about the hot wire that is normally run to the plug.   I thought I would post first to see if anyone had any opinions on what could be causing the drainage.  The deep cycle batteries in the trailer are approximately two years old and never had the problem before I switched trucks.

I bet it's just not getting charge from the truck, probably needs the hot wire hooked up so the batteries charge.

had the same trouble. there was no fuse in the auxillary power wire slot (not sure of the terminology) under the hood. the diagram showed which one it was. when the fuse was put in place the trailer battery would charge when the truck was running. something else to be aware of....some wiring schemes are not compatible between truck and trailer. there was discussion about that here recently. try a thread search. good luck and happy trails.
