Location: Cherokee, Ia | Just wondering of anyone has camped at this place in the Black Hills.....Hay Creek Ranch, between Deadwood and Nemo SD. Going out there next weekend for a week, looks like a nice place, fairly new, but good reviews on their site from guests. Just wanted an honest opinion from any of you! Thanks! |

Location: Missouri | We stayed there last year. The guy that runs it is very nice. The facilities are neat and clean and horse pens are okay. It is about 5 miles down a very narrow forest road and we had a large trailer and it was very close on some of the turns. Sure glad we didn't meet anybody on that road. The riding is okay. Nothing too challenging. We trailered to Spearfish Canyon and rode the Lttle Spearfish trail. It is very pretty. Goes along a neat creek with all kinds of wildflowers and then up some hills. We also trailered to Silver City and rode the Deerfield trail to Mystic. Absolutely gorgeous ride. You ride along Slate Creek. There's huge rock formations on each side. We saw mountain goats. So ride some at Hay Creek but if you get a chance try some of the other trails. They are not far. We are going to be back in the hills June 14th for 9 days. Staying at Custer at Broken Arrow. Anybody been there? |

Location: Kansas | pooperscooper, We are also going to stay at Brokenarrow from June 17th thru the 22nd. I thought the place looked ok on the internet. My son lives in the area and I will have him go by and look at it and give me some more info. Do you know the trails in Custer or around that area? Also do you plan to drive straight through or stop somewhere for a night. We live in SE Kansas so will stop in Lexington and stable our horses. We went last year and stayed at French Creek and had fellow campers who knew the trails so just tagged along with them. |

Location: Missouri | Wow, what a small world. You'll have to look us up when you get there. We are actually leaving next Monday and we are also overnighting at Lexington, Ne. Then we are going to Fort Robinson for a couple of nights before heading to Custer. The people at Broken Arrow sent me a map of the trails from their campground. Looks like alot of riding from there. One trail goes to Bluebell in the park. We carry a gps and I have several trail maps of the Deerfield trails, Black Elk Wilderness and a few others if we decide to trailer to some other areas. We will be in a white GMC dually and a white 4 Horse Integrity trailer. |
