I have an 80's model Shoop stock trailer (16'). I bought it used. When we had our tire trouble recently, the emergency repair/tire guy brought 225/75 R15. I thought since I had 2 of my tires blow I should replace the others before they go. I checked them out today and only one of the remaining 3 were bad. I went to the tire place with the old tire and told him the size of the 2 new ones I had gotten (assuming they were all the same). I found out that the one I was replacing and the other 2 older ones were 215/75 R15. So, now I am confused as to what to do. Right now each side has one of each size and the spare is the 225. I even called Shoop trailers to see what size were probably on it when new. That didn't help because he said they came with 235! I hate to be a female and feel helpless, but I don't understand this. I am not sure if I should replace the last two 215's or just leave them. Keep in mind that this trailer is probably being sold in the next couple months and my budget for tires is very low. But, I want it to be safe for my babies obviously. Please help!!!

I am slightly confused by your post. I think you are saying you have two new 225s and two old 215s on the trailer. And one of the 215s is bad and needs replacing. If that is the case, replace both old 215s with 225s, like the other two new ones and you will be good to go. 225s all around with a 225 spare.

Here is what the size numbers mean: 225/75R15
225--the width of the tire in mm.
75--the sidewall height, as a percentage of the width (75% of 225)
15--the wheel diameter in inches.

Besides that... it isn't good to run different size tires.

I called the tire place and had them order 2 ST225 tires for me. Now I will have 4 new ST225 tires and use the new P225 as my spare. Now I can feel safe trailering again.
