Location: Texas | I have a 3 horse 2000 Keifer and the floor is pitting. Does anyone know approximately how much per square foot to replace floor and can you do just the horse part? Thanks |

Depends what you want to replace it WITH.
"The SAME" might not be a good investment.
"Marine" grade corrosion resistant.... maybe $3 to $10 per sq ft., PLUS filler rod, labor, etc.
My guess is that you could just plate over the horse section and you might not need to do ALL of that.
Another thread got me curious, I have a couple of RFQs in, there might be responses tomorrow. |

Location: Texas | thank for the responses. I will check in again tomorrow. I have about had it with this trailer and am ready to get rid of it. I think I need to put a new floor in it to be able to sell it, but really don't want to put a whole lot of money into it. I don't mean to sound grouchy, but I would just like it to be gone. |

Location: Louisiana | Hi It can be a easy fix if the area is not large, simply patch it with alum and coat it. I have done this and the trailers are fine. Btw the guys at reynolds alum corp told me that its not the urine that pits the floors but the condensation starts the corrison because their is a airspace between the mats and the flloor . The engineer told me to go out every morning and check my floor 1 st thing and sure enough the was water under the mats. Once I coated the trailers I have had any problems with them. |

Location: Columbus, Ohio | OK, if this is true this is very interesting! I know that every type of metal will corrode- steel rusts and alum. gets all powdery. It does make sense that what corrodes steel will do the same to alum.! I have a coated alum. floor but it is only coated on top- does it make sense to have the bottom sprayed as well? |

Location: Texas | What did you coat it with? Would having the floor coated with spray-on bedliner be a good idea? I have a new aluminum trailer and do not want to deal with all of the "Floor Pitting" problems that seem to be so common. |

Properly selected ALLOYS OF ALUMINUM withstand marine environments very well.
Don't confuse the element aluminum and cheap grade cooking pots with corrosion resistant alloys - or mild steel with "stainless" steel.
Yes there is water under my mats, how could there not be ?

| Reg,we don't live in a marine environment, and we bought a new Platinum that had corrosion on the floor already beginning under the mats. What the ---- does everybody have to do when you buy a multiG trailer, redo the thing? |

Location: Columbus, Ohio | I'm no expert but if you can I would as long as the extra weight isn't a problem. F-lite has trailers with wood flooring but I know Rumber needs more support than wood - I'd talk to a manufacturer that has this option- eg Merhow and Hawk. |
