Location: Maine | My friend's clippers bit the dust and she's wondering what to replace them with. She doesn't want to spend $200 on a pair of clippers. She doesn't do body clips, just ears, nose, fetlocks, etc. She's debating corded vs cordless. In my opinion, when you just need light-duty clippers, it's more about keeping them clean and keeping the blades sharpened? She has two horses that she needs to keep trimmed up for the next four months. Would that be considered "light-duty?" Of course, a quiet clipper is always a plus... Does anyone here have a brand to recommend? Trying to keep this purchase under $100. Thanks |

Location: South Central OK | I know people are on a budget but you really get what you pay for when it comes to clippers. But if you don't keep them clean and well sharpened it doesn't really matter. My suggestion would be a wahl(Whal?) brand clipper. I know they are cheap but with maintenance they do seem to hold up to years of use. Plus the parts are really easy to find in any catalogue! |

Location: Baldwin City, KS 66006 | If you want something to get by cheaply for a few months....go to WalMart or Target etc to the hair car section and buy a $25.00 pair of clippers. Sometimes even the animal places like Petco etc have cheap pairs.....for that money...use them one summer and throw them away if they start messing up. Usually I can get a full summer of clipping 3 times a month....2 horses out of a pair..... |

Location: Southern New Mexico | I got a cheap pair from walmart in the health and beauty dpt. I went to get my husband some shaving cream and saw a pair of clippers labled for "bikini areas" for $15. It works fine for trimming the bridle paths and fetlocks. Its cordless and not very loud. |

Location: Memphis, TN | As stated above a cheap set will probably do what you want for a year or so. Throw away and buy another. I bought a Wahl Stable Pro a couple years ago, complete with extra blade for under $100, and they are very good for the money IMHO. I think Jeffers has 'em for $80 now. |

Location: Maine | You're probably right. That's the brand she had, that's the brand I have. They work fine, without putting you into debt. And when the "bite the dust" after a few years, you replace them with another $100 set. So maybe you get 4 years, at $25 a year, who could complain? Thanks! |

Location: White Mills, Ky. | We have an Oster set of clippers I paid $35 for about six years ago and they are still going strong. We clean and oil them regularly and only clip bridle paths, whiskers and such but If they die tomorrow, I'm not out a ton of money and can replace them with a quick trip to Wally World! RIDE ON! |
