Location: Edinburg, Va. | Just traded a 2004 F-250 Ford SuperDuty 6.0L with auto transmission with Tow Haul for a 2007 F-350 6.0L with same transmission. The 2004 had great smooth downshifts but the 2007 has a very harsh and jolting downshift from 2nd to 1st with TowHaul on. Dealer says "they all do this; it is the way it is programmed." I'm not buying that story and haven't had much luck with Ford Customer Service. Has anyone else experienced this problem and did you get any resolve to it? Thanks |

At least your truck is not shooting flames out the tail pipe like alot of the other 6.4's are doing.....feel lucky!!!..God Speed |

Location: Edinburg, Va. | No, this is a 6.0L. I've had Ford's diesels since 1984 and stand by them. Nothing against the Duramax. Thought about the 6.4L but didn't want to buy in the first year. |

Location: Northern Utah | How many miles does your truck have on it. The tranny's go through a learn cycle. If you have 1000 or so miles it should have learned from your driving by now. I have a 2006 F350 with 30,000 miles on it and I tow something everyday. I use my tow/haul more than the standard mode. I don't notice a harsh downshift on mine. |

Location: Edinburg, Va. | It has just over 1800 miles on it and is still acting up. With my 2004 we used tow haul alot also whether towing or not but Ford doesn't recommend using it unless you are hauling a load. Makes sense to me to use it for speed and gear control. Maybe it is just taking longer in the learning mode. Thanks |

Location: central sierra nevada foothills | that is very typical in the first two gears with an Auto tranny. I drove one not too long ago, just to see how a AT would drive, told hubby, "NO WAY" I would never tow with that, once it was up and out of second it shifted and took off in a heart beat. The dealer said, yes that is typical with the lag............. ' ' |

Location: THE GREAT NORTHWET, OREGON(THE REAL GODS COUNTRY) | I have a 06 F350 and havent noticed any problems,however I drove Mine the recomended mileage before towing.I have 14000 on it now and have pulles My trailers several times.Does it do it in The non tow mode? |

Location: Edinburg, Va. | We put about 1300 on it before towing. The problem is in the tow haul mode down shifting from 2nd to 1st at low speeds. |

| Might want to ask a local transmission shop, rather than Ford Stealership Mech. I've always been of the opion that a firm shift is better for life of tranny, rather than slow drawn out smooth shift, but I ain't transmission xpert. |
