| How many of y'all pull with Chevys? What do they get for mileage, pulling and not pulling? The engine is a 6.0L 8 Cy, gas. It's a 2500. |

Location: Texas | My dad has a '05 2500 HD with the 6.0 and my brother has a '01 2500 HD 6.0. My dad's is a service truck and is 8000-8500 lbs all the time. He gets 11-12 mpg. My brother gets about 14 mpg unloaded. Both get as low as 8 mpg towing. Edit. Both are regular cab, long box, 2WD.

Location: Christiansburg, VA | I haul a 93 sundowner GN 2 horse slant with dressing room with my V8 6.0L 2500HD ext cab, short bed, hauling the trailer it gets routinely 10mpg, doesn't seem to matter if hauling 1 horse or 2, top mpg we have gotten up interstate not hauling is 16. I live in the mountains and haven't had any problems with this truck routinely pulling approx 6000 lbs. |

Location: Blountsville, AL | We bought a 2005 Chevy 2500 with a 6.0L to pull our horse trailer. It is a completely metal 3 horse with full living quarters (30ft) trailer. It pulled it just fine but we only got about 12 mpg and about 15 mpg without pulling. We bought a 2006 Chevy 2500 with a 8100 motor and Allison transmission. We get about the same gas mileage but it handles the trailer much better. I really feel more comfortable hauling in the mountains with this truck. |

Location: Wadena MN | I had a 2004 chevy 2500 with a 3.73 crew cab short box. without a trailer at 60mph no wind I got 17.1 over 70mph 15.3 When I pulled my 4 star 3 horse loaded I adv 10.1 (no wind/no hills) I just traded it off last week for a new body style 2007 chevy 2500HD with 3.73 crew cab short box "what a truck! It's really sweet.. But I hope it gets better milage I only have 300 miles on it, at 1st when I took it off the lot and drove 110 miles home, it was like 10mpg OMG...but today I hit 14.9....haven't pulled a trailer yet, just took it over to get my hitch put in. I'll post again when I take a trailer trip. Unless I cant aford gas to go very far..I'll have to start putting on trail rides at my house...MaryM |

Location: Lakeview, Texas | I have a 2001 Chevy 4x4 crew cab 2500 HD and pulled a 16' bumper and got 12 mpg every time, w/o the trailer I would get 14 mpg and sometimes 15 mpg going with the wind, but in Texas one can never go very far in the same direction with the wind. |

| I have a chevvy with the driver information center. I use one trip meter set for towing, the other for no trailer, I get miles, gallons, MPG, avg speed for each trip meter set.
I have found that I burn fuel at a fairly consistent rate - in gallons per hour (GPH).
It is some measure of how heavy footed I am, but when towing I don't just "tread on it harder", I acknowledge that the additional load makes the rig slower. MPG goes down, MPH goes down, GPH stays about the same. |
