Unless Kentucky Mountain horses are unique in growth, the easiest way to estimate mature height is the old fashioned string test. I do not believe these horses tend to be very tall... I usually see them around 15-15.1 HH and under, although I could be mistaken.

Howdy!

I own Kentucky and Rocky Mountain Saddle horses. I have had a Kentucky as big as 15.3 hh, and now have a Rocky at 15.3 hh. I also have seen Kentucky's as small as 13.2 hh. These horses usually grow until they are 5 to 7  years old. A Rocky must exceed 14.2 hh to be registered, but a Kentucky does not have a limit. If you search for the history of the Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse, you will find it all started because of one small gaited stud (who's owners name has slipped my mind (old mind) ). Enjoy your horse, it will always be your friend.

Happy Trails
