I am trying to find coverage for my brand new 07 Cimarron LQ trailer. It costs 46000. How much should insurance cost? My carrier said it would be 680 a year. Does that sound right????

A little high. I've got a Featherlite 4 horse with 13' LQ and it's under $400. Try: The Creelman Agency PO box 68 401 Post Rd. Waldorf, MD. 20604-0068 301-843-1400

In Texas, your trailer is covered by your policy on your truck as long as you are hooked up. You would need to get a policy for the contents. I don't know how insurance works in other states.

I had to get a separate policy for my trailer. Do you just mean liability is covered when hooked up?

My agent told me that any damage to the trailer is covered while I pull it. He told me that if I wanted everything covered (contents) that would be added onto my insurance.

Most financial institutions require you to get full coverage other than as I mentioned above.  I didn't.

You had better get that in writing. The only thing that is covered when you are hooked up is the liabity portion so if your trailer came loose and hit some other personal property( like a vehicle or building) it would pay for what you hit but NOT YOUR TRAILER. Mine is an aditional policy as a rider on my truck. Mine is about 950 a year( policies are for 6 months) and it a 05 F350 dually King Ranch, 50,000 on LQ trailer and 8,000 on bumper trailer all policies  are on the Truck and the 2 trailers are endorsements on the policy. I can't remember how much contents coverage I have but a lot of it is covered on my homeowners policy. (tack etc.)

Was on a weekend trail ride.Middle of the day saw black smoke from the camp area.Got back to camp and a family was staring at what once had been a low mileage Ford F250 Powerstroke and a BRAND new four horse Sooner trailer. They just had trailer a few days.Truck was melted to the ground,no wheels, glass etc.Trailer was bad damaged to the middle of it.They left their camp fire going (windy day)and a bale of hay under the tailgate/nose of trailer.Any how they ASSUMED all was covered and had NOT purchased any sort of insurance on the trailer. Husband was on the phone with Statefarm. They were told YES on the truck but NO on the trailer. I heard lots of BUT/BUT.Don't know final out come but THEY had a mess.

I use Geico.  The liability for my trailer is covered with the truck insurance, but for the "full coverage" comp, collision and theft with full replacement value it is $59.50 per 6 months with a $50 deductable.  In Tx and now in NM.

We have Southern Farm Bureau insuring our LQ valued at $54K for full coverage for $693.20/yr.

It started out $200 higher, but it was the way the person who took the information had it classed.I think they were calling it a "camper" initially. My agent had it changed and the premium dropped the $200 mentioned.

It is differant if a LQ and a certified RV the just a livestock trailer. That question came up with Progressive and that little RV sticker made a differance.

I pay $175 every 6 months at Shelter Ins. that is for $35K in cash, in writing. No stickers didn't even ask. Trailer is covered by truck Ins. while traveling. The $175 is for trailer while parked, camping, also in case someone falls out of it drunk I reckon. Liability you know, welcome to 2007.

I pay $439 every 6 months for full coverage on a $90K LQ trailer. Plus I also pay $ 99 every 6 months for coverage on a $45K LQ trailer. Both policies cover anything & everything.  I do have A $1000 deductible on each.

Some time Farm Bureau is not the cheapest chec around. Have them quote it as a horse trailer and as a camper and take which is less. It is on a stated value anyway. Check them all State Farm, Farmers, Farm Bureau, Allstate, Nationwide all of their prices vary as to which state you are in. A lot of the time their prices are on the loss ratio for a certain area. Check around!

Tx Vaquero one reason yours may be so high is you may a PRCA and they classify it as if it was a commercial veh instead of a recreational one. Just a guess

I just figured mine was high because of the liability of all the riff raff that congregates around my trailer. I do have added coverage of $20,000 for saddles, tack and assorted crap.
