| I thought Ford had the problems fixed for the 2007. My trainer traded in a 2005 w/ 20,000 miles on it because the injectors went out three times. He got a brand new 2007 and the first time he started to a show the dang thing broke down, injector went out!!!!! Is this a one time thing, does Ford have the problem fixed or not????

Does he keep fuel in a tank on the farm? Buy it at the local country store that may sell 100 gallons a month out of an above ground 5000 gallon tank? Or do they buy their fuel at a truck stop that moves thousands of gallons of fresh, filtered fuel a day? Check on some of the Ford Diesel forums. http://www.thedieselstop.com/ alot of info here on their forums.

Never had an injector problem in either truck. I had some problems with the 2003. Mainly with the ICP, VGT, EGB sensor. Once they replaced those the truck ran fine. The EGB sensor was my main problem. It would not sense the difference in elevation as I drove up into the mountains. Because of that it would shut down or turn down the turbo thinking it was overboosting, but in reality because of the thinner air at higher altitude it wasn't getting enough boost. My 2006 has 25,000 miles on it now with no problems. And I use my trucks hard. It has a trailer on it more often than not. I haul a Skid steer or Mini Excavator almost daily. My 3 horse GN with weekend package several times a week. These all weigh around 13,000lbs and I frequently haul up and over 7% mountain grades. I have a neighbor who had a Duramax and had so many problems he sold it and bought a Dodge. And I had to tow another friends Dodge into service because he tranny went out. It's just a crap shoot. These are all complex products. Pick one and take your chances.

All my friends that haul and have the 2006-07 have injector problems...I thought about trading mine in on a new 06 in Clovis this last year. The fleet manager just looked at me and said "you gotta be crazy" - best advice ever given at a Ford dealership...now don't go telling his boss. |

![25](https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/images/decorations/multiple/25.gif) Location: Elgin, Texas | I have a 1999 F250 3/4 ton that has 210,000 miles on it. I took it in the shop because it wasn't running right. I needed a new water pump and exhaust tube. It runs just like it did when I got it. I will die on my place. It's replacement will be gas. Diesel's do not pay for themselves any more. Fuel is too high. We just bought my husband a new work truck (07 Chev v8 6000 4X$ gas). We paid $37 for it and it has everything but the kitchen sink. A diesel would have cost $8-10K more. Love the new truck. I get it in 3 years. |

As stated above, it's a crap shoot. And if the injectors are failing, blame Robert Bosch Company for building an inferior component for the engine. You don't hear about main and rod bearing failures, cracked castings, and so forth. That's because Navistar built a quality longblock that tons of other components are added to, which is still their problem, but then again the other truck manufacturers run into the same thing. I've got a 99 7.3 4x4 that has 135K on it now, and I lost a tranny at 125K after 6 years of pulling 10-15K on a regular basis. It will rust to the ground on my farm, and like somebody above said, the next one will be gas because they no longer pay for themselves over time with the cost of diesel today. It amazes me that crude oil product only on refinement step above fuel oil cost more than such highly refined fuel as unleaded gasoline at the topp of the heap. |

Clovis, NM or Clovis, CA, or neither? :-) I understand y'all on fuel prices. Gotta thank the EPA for ULSD and the extra cost of refining to create it... The emissions out of my horse's backside are more hazardous than what comes out of my Dodge/Cummins' tailpipe. The exhaust doesn't even smell like diesel exhaust... which is depressing. :-)

I must admit that my wife took 10th place in the PRCA Barrels this last summer in Clovis...we were so happy we thought about a new truck...now with 169,000k on the 7.3 - I am glad we still have our old diesel! I really loved Clovis - the people were great and the rodeo was fantastic...especially the guy in the sherriff's posse that crow hopped and fell off...we all thought it was part of the act and clapped until we realized different...oops! I hope to move to either Clovis or outside Amarillo someday...just not enough rodeo in AZ |

Location: Pace, Florida | I pull a 3h gooseneck(10K lbs) w/ my 2005 f-250 6.0, 30K miles. I haven't pulled but 3K miles, but every time I do, my truck lunges at 50-70 mph in towhaul. Have to completely let off accelerator until it settles down. Have you ever had the same problem? |

KACA was the precursor to PAFRA in Korea. Don Hadley was the one who brought in the PAFRA connection...mid-2000 I believe. I had some ties to the organization in Korea around that time. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

I do think that the injectors that Ford is using are total crap but they know it and should install better ones. I got rid of my 05 F450 because I went thru 9 injectors, a cylinder head, a turbo clamp, and a high pressure oil pump. The turbo clamp was the easiest to repair but you seldom find a dealer with one in stock because they break so often. I was just returning home from FL to PA in my friend's 450 and a turbo clamp went on it on the Blue Ridge mountains in snow and at night!! We had to limp up the mountain for a couple of miles till we found an exit with a motel. Got it fixed the next day. BTW, I'll never own another Ford because they will NOT stand behind them! |

You had better be putting a good additive to increase lubricity so these injectors won't seize up. Probably have to do it 3 to 6 months till they get enough additives in the fuel and it just isn't only Fords. |

The reduction of sulfur reduces lubricity and that will seize injectors and pumps!! I use to just add it every 3 or 4 tans full to reduce any moisture when they change the fuel I use it every tank till they get the lubricity back. |

The flyers they send me for periodic service include a coupon for discounts on their additive. So why would Ford say not to add an additive. The new ULSD supposedly has other additives included to make up for the lubricity that was lost when the sulfur was removed. |
