Location: Rushville, Indiana | My hubby went out to feed before he went to work, and found a suprise in the pasture!!!! The vet said our mare should not foal until April....but this morning we have a healthy colt. He is beautiful! Needless to say, he came in and got me up, we got them in the barn and mama and baby are doing fine! Good thing it was in the 50's here last night! I will post pics when it gets light enough to take some photos. We kept thinking she was much farther along than what the vet thought, but we were not exactly sure when she was bred. She had 2 ultrasounds and they kept telling us a spring baby. They will be suprised when I call them later today! |

Location: Salem, CT | Wow - Congratulations on your new arrival. That must be quite a surprise to wake up to. I can just imagine the look on your husbands face as he saw the new set of eyes looking at him. Best of luck to you all, including the Mom and baby. Steve |

Location: Vanzant, Missouri | Congrats on your early arrival!!!. We had a mini foal out early also but lost the foal. It was her first. The foal was a premi. Atleast 6 weeks early. It's sad but it happens. |

Location: MO | What a nice Christmas surprise! Many years ago, we bought a POA mare in foal. Our vet said she was due in late June. Our girls slept in the barn for two weeks, waiting. Finally, gave up. The mare foaled the first week in August.
Anyway, congratulations. You should name the colt "Christmas Surpise"
