| Does anyone make a 7 pin round to 6 pin round adapter? My current truck/trailer is set up with a 7 pin round connecter, but the trailer I am buying has a 6 pin round. I could change the plug on my truck, but my parents also have a 7 pin plug on their truck and they need to use the trailer sometimes too. If this type of adapter doesn't exist, would it be possible to use a 7 pin round to 7 pin flat adapter + a 7 pin flat to 6 pin round? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you! | |

| I think most recent year trucks come with 7-pin "blade" connectors, the shell is round, but the connectors themselves are flat (blade).
Go here http://www.etrailer.com/faq/wiring.asp for the general wiring stuff.
Go up a level, or two, and go back down for the varioius adapters.
Personally I'd Just throw a 7 pin (blade) connector on the trailer, the 6 pin is (argueably) obsolete, might as well get in step with contemporary truck wiring.

| That's a good idea and then my dad can use a 7 pin round to 7 pin blade adapter when he uses the trailer. Now my problem is how do I get it home from the seller? I can't expect them to change out the plug for me. Is it okay to use two adapters until I can get the trailer home to rewire it? Thanks! | |

Why not ?
I would expect the seller to put in just a little bit of effort to get the trailer in a condition that I could safely tow it away - with STANDARD wiring.
Similarly, if I had a trailer for sale with obsolete wiring I would expect to have to upgrade/update it before anyone would consider taking it.
There again, I wouldn't be above buying the plug, printing out the wiring sheets I refered you, carrying a couple of tools there so I could just chop of the 6-pin plug, put on the 7 and get going.
