We just bought a used all aluminum horse trailer. In great shape, however the metal was very dirty. By recomendation, we did an acid wash. Very light mix of acid, just enough to clean. Most of it looks great. However, one side of trailer has a milky white look to it. What is this, and how do you fix it. Is there anything on the market to remove this milky white film? Thanks for the help.

It sounds like you left the acid on to long and it dried before you rinsed it off. I have washed many trailers by this method. You should always start to apply the acid toward the bottom and spray toward the top. That way it won't run down the side of the trailer and leave streaks. Make sure to rinse off before it dries or you will have the problem you wrote of. It is better to do several times rather than try to do it all at once. One other thing make sure to pull the mats out of the trailer and clean th floor and sides with a good detergent then rinse and let dry before you put the mats back in. If you use shavings in your trailer when you haul horse urine and pine shavings can be corrisive to aluminum so you should pull the mats and clean every 3 to 4 months to prevent problems.
