What do you guys think about the 1999 F550 with the PSD 7.3?  I just bought one to pull my 34' sundowner 4H with a 12' slide.  It weighs 15K with no horses in it but fully loaded with gear.  My 2500HD was WAY to small.   It is kind of hard to find info on the 550.

I'm hoping that the F550 will be a nice truck to pull 10K miles a year or so in.  I'm keeping my 2500HD.  I just love that truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chad

The 550 has a lot of gear in them I can't remember whether it is 4:38 or 4:88 but 70 mph is going to tach you up pretty good.

I think this truck has a 4.88 in it.  I'm thinking 65 will be towards the max end as far as speed is concerned.  I'm kind a recreational field trialer so getting there fast won't be that big of an issue.  Getting there safe will be.

I'm hoping to find ways to get better MPG"s too.  If anybody has any ideas I'm all ears.

Have you visited here yet.  http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31   I think the moderator has a 550, plus he's a repair shop owner.

Here's another good place for info.  http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=Genupgrades1

I would start with intake and exhaust 1st.
