Location: oregon |  What's out there for theft deterrants for a gooseneck. Any type of lock to insure trailer will not be stolen?

Location: North Carolina | There isn't any type of lock that can't be defeated by a thief. You can only make it harder, so the thief will go on to easier pick'ins. A chain and lock though the wheels is inexpensive and effective. The hitch locks are a little easier for you to use. So in the end, something that you chose to use, is better than the most expensive, super duper hardened, lock that you DON'T use every time. |

Location: Houston, TX | I have been looking at the locks that just lock the actual gooseneck hitch, but one of my trailer has an adjustable hitch (height). I hadn't thought about the possibility of them removing that whole part, but I did notice that there are some companies that sell a combination hitch lock and lock for the adjustable (thus removable) section. I thought that was pretty smart. There are also some locks sold through RV places that lock your actual wheels/tires that might be helpful, too. Nat |

Location: south of Cowtown, TEXAS | I have a solid steel lock on the coupler with a 3/4" solid pin and hidden lock.
However, theives have been known to have a spare coupler, drop the one on yours and use theirs. No trailer is ever truely safe but locks and such will slow them down.
Still a great idea to paint numbers/letters on the top of the trailer big enough to be seen by air or overpass.

Location: Lockport, Illinois | I am considering buying a Denver Boot and installing it on my trailer, I think the cost is about $250.00. I do have the gooseneck lock and the lock that covers the adjusting bolts, and have painted a big cross on the roof of my trailer. |
