I read on a trailer site that the torsion axles were great if one were going to pull on highways or well paved streets.. The other type was good if one were driving on back roads with potholes.. the wheel would be able to drop into the holes while the torsion would not. Also, we have both axles, we can change them with our "Trailer Aid" device, but with the leaf, we have to use a bottle jack to get the axle up high enough (once we drop the tire) to get the spare on. I think the leaf springs are more bouncy than the torsions. Seems when I drive in IND where the roads are not as smooth as they could be, I see the leaf spring bounce more than the torsions. I think that the leaf springs can be changed out.. I had looked into that a couple years ago on my little trailer, it would have run about 900 because they would need to put different sized tires on the trailer. Probably if it were an option, and since I drive mostly on paved roads, I would go with the torsions. Jbsny |
