I have a 98 GMC K1500. After a considerable amount of time rolling around on the floorboard, I have failed to find the wires to my brakelight switch. I'm trying to tie in the brake controller, and it says I need to find the "cold" side of the switch, no problem if I could just find the wires. Does anyone know what color they are and where I could find them other than right at the switch itself???

Rollin on the floorboard till I find help!!!

Maybe they used a preasure switch at the master cylinder under the hood..?! Ford had one under the truck in the 80's

I don't know the answer to your question, but suggest you try the truck forums.
I think the last vehicle I had that actually had a a physical switch on the brake pedal's arm was a Volvo - I only mention this as a sure bet that GM would be as different as possible in details like this.

I think the other end of the wire you seek probably goes to some relay and flasher circuit before becoming the final brake light signal - FWIW.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try posting in the truck area.
