Location: North Salem, IN | Has anyone tried using one of those tankless instant water heaters? If so, what brand? Was it a permanent mount or a portable camping unit? If permanent, how did you mount and vent it? I am trying to figure out what I want in my LQ, and the idea of having an endless supply of hot water sounds great!!! Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. |

Location: South Central OK | I have one in the barn and I will NEVER go back to the older tank kind. Mine runs on gas so I'm not sure how you'd get it in a LQ. I'd be asking this question on an RV website. |

Location: Kansas | I also have one in my barn, but it is an electric unit, so could easily be stowed in/under a cabinet and only plugged in when you need it. Probably have better ones at an RV place as far as size, but I just got mine at Lowe's. |

Location: Iowa | I just have the little old portable Coleman Hot Water On Demand...and I love it. I use it in the back of my trailer with a cut-down washtub for a shower floor. It puts out lots of hot water, and I can take it anywhere. Also use it for giving the horses a warmer bath when water from faucet would be a tad too cold. Also works great for washing dishes, hands, etc. One little propane cannister (the little 16 oz green ones) makes 40 gallons of hot water...and you can go from cold to nicely warm to burning hot with the unit. You can also get adapters to hook it up to larger propane tanks, and to hook it directly to a water hose. Like I said...I love mine. |

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa | I thought about doing the same thing myself. I found one at Menards and then someone told me they don't recommended them in campers. I figured when I get serious about replacing my electric hot water heater, I'd call the company and ask. The price wasn't too much different from putting in a gas hot water heater. |

Location: Beaverdam Va. | We have a tankless heater in our cabin, and it works great. However, it demands 220 electrical service. Are there electric tankless heaters that work off of 110? I'm sure watts and volts figure in there somewhere. I would be interesred in a 110 unit for the barn. Some friends of ours have a portable propane heater from Zodi and it is great for camping. |

Location: North Salem, IN | There are some made for RVs, and they slide in just like the regular RV 6 or 10 gallon heaters and run on propane with a 12 volt hook up for the igniter. These units are very pricey!! About $875-950. I have found several of the other home style, and a lot cheaper, and the smaller LP versions say they can be used for camping, but their info was limited. I'm not sure if they were meant to be used outside or permanently mounted inside. The other thing about mounting inside is the space around the heater, nothing can be very close. That could be a problem, space wise, not to mention a fire hazard. |
