Location: Missouri | We just moved to Des Moines. You'll have no trouble finding several great places to ride in Missouri. |

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa | You have Brushy Creek North of you and Stephens State Forest South of you. I have Shimek Forest I ride in which is in the very southeast corner of Iowa which would be about 3-4 hours hauling. You can get on website horseandmuletrails.com/ and you'll find information on all three of those riding parks and more. It's a site that will show the United States and then you click on what state your interested in. Hopefully you'll find more riding places but from what I've heard, those two parks are popular in that area. Sometimes we've had people drive from up there to come to Shimek to ride. I go on a riding vacation in Missouri every year and know you'll miss riding in Missouri, it's a beautiful state. Welcome to Iowa! |

Location: Cherokee, Ia | Brushy Creek State Park is a pretty good ride. Great camping facilities. Trails are somewhat hilly, a few bridges to cross. Close enough to Des Moines for a nice weekend trailride. I only know of organized rides up in the NE part of the state, Yellow River Forest, and a few around Cedar Rapids. I live in NW Iowa, no organized rides up this way that I know of. Since you're from Missourri, bet you've been to Eminence, and, ever make it to Shawnee Forest in Southern IL? I go there every year. THAT is good riding! Hope you like Iowa! |
