Just make sure whatever you do, make sure they don't drill holes in your bumper to either PULL another trailer behind it.

When I got my trailer delivered, it had two huge holes in the bumper and scratches on my brand new trailer from them hooking a hitch on to it, so they could save money and haul them both at once.

No excuse for that )-:
They didn't even have the decency to put a couple of nice round head carriage bolts in the holes to make them look "structural" ?
Bad, bad BAD !!!

Where is the trailer located? We just bought a trailer in Billings, MT and my husband drove from Louisiana to get it. The only reason we could do that was because he made a vacation out of it and brought his Mom to see Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. Otherwise having it shipped is always going to be cheaper. Gas is insane!!!!!

Trailer is in Fort Scott Kansas and I am Raleigh NC.  I have a quote of $1225 which sounds pretty good to me.  I would love to take a trip out there to pick it up but I really want have time until dec.  Like you say with fuel the way it is and more mileage on the truck the shipping option is looking like the way to go.

That seems a fair rate. About $1 per mile loaded. One thing you might want to consider - if you haven't already completed the deal - are the dollars it is worth to actually see and do the inspection of the trailer yourself. You have much more leverage on the lot than if your trailer is delivered. Of course, your leverage is less if they know you drove 1100 miles already and are not likely to go home empty-handed. However, they might be willing to make minor fixes and adjustments at their shop. I live 80 miles from Ft. Scott. Just head to Kansas City and then turn left...

We will be in KS this next week, and could pick up your trailer and deliver it to NC for a fair rate!

Visit www.uship.com    People will bid on your load.  Several of my customers have successfully used this site and saved lots of money.  Be sure to get comprehensive insurance coverage first (not expensive) unless the shipper provides a certificate of insurance.  If they do, check with the company to be sure it is in effect.  Anyone can have a copy of a certificate.

PS  Antique, this site might be a source of hauls for you.

thanks for posting about www.uship.  I found a trailer I really want but it's in MA. and I'm in OR.  Sadly, the shipping expense puts this trailer out of my price range, but I'll try uship.  this list is such a wonderful resource!
