Location: Ashland, Ohio | Well, we're finally ready to step up in trailers. For the last 4 years we have used a '92 Sundowner Gooseneck, thoroughbred style trailer. It's s 2 horse straight, ramp load. I love the configuration for the horses, but we're looking for a little more room in the dressing area, as well as something a little lighter. We've pulled this one ok with our 1/2 ton Dodge, but something a little lighter would be better in the hills. Our trailer has a 4' dressing room / tack area, it would be nice to get 6'-8', but stay with the straight load design. Any opinions?? Thanks in advance, Gary. |

Location: south of Cowtown, TEXAS | I have a Silver Star (all aluminum) 2h GN with a nice weekender. You should be able to pull it with a 1/2 ton. Great quality trailer, great price too. (pics in my album) |

Location: Newton, NJ | I also have a 2horse slant load Silver Star with a 4 ft DR. I love it and tow with a GMC 1500 Sierra P/U. Lots of bang for the buck with this manufacturer. Dawnya - I love your new DYI LQ. I printed pics to show my hubby. We'll be doing a winter project! |

Location: Dickinson, TX | I have a 2002 Silver Star 3-horse gooseneck with 7' short wall... living quarters going in soon. While looking for the diesel pickup I'm driving now, I pulled the trailer a few times with the 1991 F-150 (with the 302 V-8) my '91 F-350 replaced. Did okay with one horse. Pulled 3 horses in a pinch. 60-65mph on the flats.Of course, you'll want to consider your load and the weight capacities of your tow vehicle. I got into the first one-ton pickup I could easily afford because 10,000 pounds is DEFINITELY out of range for a half ton pickup. As far as the trailer... I really love it. I think that I could have gotten a better deal if I'd pressed the dealer a little harder--gave me invoice on the trailer but charged MSRP for every accessory. If I'd found this site back in 2002 I'm sure I'd have been better prepared to negotiate a good price. Long term durability remains to be seen--I expect this trailer to last me 20 years of occasional use. Tows like a dream for its size and my (currently) underpowered truck.Mike
