Location: va | Why call the vet, 40.00 farm call 25.00 examination fee, and then she wants me togive him atibiotics, that she is selling for 3 times what I can buy it for. I do use the vet for lots of things, but I don't call them for the little stuff. |

This "little stuff" could turn into big stuff if not diagnosed correctly and treated properly. That $65 bill might seem real small compared to what may lie ahead if improper treatment is not sought. At least call your vet and seek advice on the symptoms your mini is exhibiting. |

Location: South Central OK | David, shame on you...you penny pincher! What if your horse had strangles? If you must know...read the label, it is usually dosed per 100 lbs of body weight. I will warn you, with a mini you better not over estimate too much...over guessing 50lbs. on a full size horse is WAY different than 50lbs to a mini. (You should know that animals are expensive...they NEVER get cheaper and they never return your money, only your love.) |

Location: Sullivan NY | ohmigod $40 for a farm call, i am moving to where you live myfarm call is $120 examination $45, $165 before anything happens, my husband says it would be cheaper to put me through vet school, 9 times out of ten I am right and tell the vet what is wrong and what I need. 5 horses yearly shots cost me between $500- $700

Location: Southern New Mexico | Good lord!! My vet charges $25 for a house call. But since he is only 2 miles away I always take the horses to him. He has only been out here once when I couldn't get my gelding up. |

Location: KY | personally, I am much more likely to call the vet than I am to go to a human doctor. 'Course vets have to have incredible skills, they have to be able to look a jacka-- in the face and tell where he hurts. |

Location: michigan | If you don't want to call in a vet, then at least take your minis temperature. If my horse had a cough and running nose but no temp, then I'd wait it out and see. Typically, without a temp, most vet wouldn't use antibiotics anyway. But again, thats something your vet would be able to determine after a exam. |
