Location: Ontario, Canada | Kind of like gas prices at the pumps, a sniff of a reason to put it up, and "wham" it's up. But if anything goes down in price? Well.....we can't drop prices, because......(insert absolutely any lame excuse here)......As to the point of people buying things that are made from steel a year ahead, what happened to Just In Time manufacturing? And when I was picking up steel from my local supplier a week or so ago, the price was still the same, no notice that it would be dropping as of a certain date (though I've seen lots of them saying it would go up as of a certain date the last year or so....)

Biz principle 101: Sellers cling to highs, buyers cling to lows.
When costs are falling sellers want to talk about the price they had to pay (without actually telling what that was in $s), when costs are rising they want to talk about their replacement cost.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas | I recently (in the past 3 weeks) ordered a trailer. Several of the dealers I talked to told me that trailer prices, both steel and aluminum, would be increasing between 3 and 8 percent for FY06 supposedly due to gas prices / shipping costs. The week after I ordered mine, the prices of the brand I ordered increased 3%. The only good news about that is it keeps the resale value of trailers increasing also. |

Location: Northwest Indiana | Resale value of the trailer may increase but the resale value of our vehicles to pull the trailer are falling with the Big 3 continuing the Employee price sales. |
