 | I'm looking to buy a 3 horse aluminum slant Sooner ('96 I think) and have heard from a few sources that some Sooner trailers may have an axle problem that causes tire problems. Anyone experience problems with this issue? Thanks, DT |

 | From about 1991 to 1994, Sooner did have some problems with wheel bearings. In fairness to Sooner, it wasn’t a huge percentage, just more than they wanted.    To resolve the problem, they forced their supplier to change bearing manufacturers to Tempkin – good old made in the USA bearings – in early ‘95. The problems went to near zero after that.   If you are looking at an older Sooner (or any older trailer for that matter), I recommend that you consider new bearings, brakes, and an overall axle/preventative maintenance program to help you enjoy your trailer rather than worry about it or worse yet, fix it on the side of the road….   Just my .02 |

 |   We had the axles completly replaced.  The tires were wearing funny and we assumed that the previous owner had bent them.  After numerous blow outs we deceided to replace the axles.  We now have 16 inch tires instead of 15inch.

 | Also, I believe that Sooner changed axle companies sometime between 1995 & 1997. Not exactly sure about the dates, but I do know they changed to Dexter axles. |
