Location: Pink, Oklahoma | I was at the Virginia Equine Extravaganza a couple of months ago and saw a bedding product called Nafcore. It is supposed to be more absorbent than shavings and virtually dust free. Has anyone tried it and what do you think? |

| Yes I use nafcore, have been for about 5 mths now. It is absorbent for sure and the one thing I really like about it is that it is dust free. When you initially put it down from the bag there is a little dust in the bag, after that you are ok. I have used both types of muck rakes, wide and narrow tines and it all depends on texture of the horses manure on how much manure falls thru with the product. The wide muck rake allows more nafcore to fall thru faster. Its a little expensive here $6.99 a bag but worth not having the dust. When it gets wet scoop it out. Depending how soaked it gets you can actually spread it out and when it evaporates you can reuse it. My stalls are 12x12 and I usually use 5-6 bags all depends on how much padding you want for your horse. Ive used as little as 3 bags. I also have mats down. Here is a tip if you have access to it. I started putting red dirt,clay base that has coquina in it as a base before I put the nafcore down and boy it it sucks up the moisture and makes the manure easier to get up because it actually seems to keep the manure together. I have 2 stalls this way and they do not have mats under them. The dirt and nafcore get mixed together from the horse moving it around and it works fine. Sorry for the long post lol.. |

Location: Pink, Oklahoma | Nafcore is actually not a "wood" product. It is made from a reed-like plant. Check out their website for more info. If it is as good as they say it is, it would be great.

Location: PA | It does sound interesting but, at $6.99/ bag, probably would not be a substiute for show shavings. At home, I have been using wood pellets for years and really like them so I don't think I'd change. Plus, there are no dealers close to me. Let me know what you think about them. |

| I have a horse with COPD. Has anyone used nafore with a horse with this condition? I need a no dust (or as dustless as possible) bedding. I am using shredded paper right now, but having to shred it myself is a bit of a pain. Plus, it's absorbant, but if urine doesn't hit the paper, you are left with a puddle...yuck. Defeats the purpose of trying to reduce ammonia build-up, too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa | I really like Woody Pet. I had traveled 10 hours with my horses and when I opened the door, the ammonia odor was real bad by the time I got there. I shopped around in the area and found this product in a farm store. I cleaned my trailer out before going home and put the Woody Pet product in the trailer. This time when I opened the door there was no odor. I was really impressed. It's 100% natural wood and is in a pellet form. It absorbes really well and turns fluffy when it absorbes. I won't travel without it in the trailer and have a couple of friends that agree. I've tried other products similar in the pellet form but prefer Woody Pet. I got out a bag and it mentions reduces ammonia odor, reduces respiratory problems, allergies, files, waste, 100% biodegradable, extreme absorbency. etc. Even mentions cat litter which I might have to try myself, never thought about using it that way. Location: KY | I have a copd mare; and try to keep her out of a stall. We use Sweet PDZ before we put down shavings...it really helps with the amonia (sp?) odor. |
