Ok, I was over in the 89 Ford thread and somebody brought up what it must be like in europe. Well, a little ----.uk searching and you'll find no goosenecks, just bumper pulls. Some with LQ's even. But if you want to go for the gusto there you by a horse "box" with "apartmente" in it. Check out the 8 horse, or any other on the site for that matter. If you click the "apartmente" underlined link below the layout and picture it opens a window that takes a few to load, but shows a drawn layout that when you move the mouse arrow over an area it shows an actual picture of that portion of the LQ, or excuse me, "apartmente".

sort of on the same note,

http://www.phht.co.uk/racemast.htm#features

next time we are out there wishing we had more power think about this guy driving his new top of the line rig.

check out the specs,  a GVWR of just over 16,500 pounds, empty of about 11300 pounds,  being propelled by 130 hp and 300 pounds of torque (looked up the mitsu canter specs).

looks similar the the f250 with the 5.4(which most people over here would consider entry level), and ive heard its no rocket with 10000 behind it.

These are similar to some rigs I'm seeing in the States, now. Freightliner is build rigs w/ lq's in the front of the boxes, so it won't be too long before horse people "jump on the wagon" so to speak.

Too late! Check out http://www.callenclair.com/ for the US version of European "horsebox". (the site has some work to do on it: you will find the 'buttons' don't do anything, the images tell the whole story)

I moved to the States from the UK about 5 years ago, and was surprized to find no horseboxes at all here! So I started building one of my own, taking all the best features of the horse trailers/boxes and rolling it into one excellent vehicle.

I've been working at it part time, and of late a house purchase/remodel has taken priority so you can see nothing has been done for the last 18 months.

What you don't see from the pictures is what the accomodation will be like. We are definately going to go high end (sundowner style) with nice cabinets/fittings. There will be a shower area also, with a endless supply of hot water using an instantaneous water heater instead of those pathetic 6 gallon tanks you usually see in regular LQs.

There will be many other cool features (for example: built in hotwire system, individually controlled ventilation fans for each stall, observation deck on the roof for cross-country events) to make this vehicle much more than just a horse trailer stuck on the back of a flatbed!

It is a unique vehicle that will stand out from the crowd when finished. If anybody is interested in purchasing it when finished please contact me at john.sinclair@mac.com It would be for sale at approximately $80,000 or best offer.

(There also is the possibility of selling it now "unfinished" for you to complete yourself. I would estimate one skilled person could complete it in about six months working weekends on it. I would assist in all the design if necessary. Please email to discuss a price.)
