| Hi everyone. I need to replace the wood floor boards in my older horse trailer. Should I use pressure treated wood?

Location: North Carolina | Depends on what was originally installed. If it was treated wood, you're good to go with treated wood. Be aware treated wood is usually pine, it's weaker than oak. If the original wood was OAK, then the supports may be too wide for pine. Then replace with similar oak boards or increase the supporting structure. Oak boards can be sourced from a pallet builder. Just search for a local outfit to you.
I treated my oak boards with wood preservative after they were cut to fit the floor but, prior being installed in trailer. |

Location: missouri | Very important to check support of frame underneath before you replace the wood! You may need to weld some more braces under it if you have rust.... use TREATED LUMBER ALWAYS.... or Rumber with good frame support. |

Location: riverside ca | I dont recommend using pressure treated to replace your floor, the reason behind it is that if do a quick search you will see that you cannot use standard metal fasteners with pressure treated, the reason for this is that non zinc coated steel reacts with metal and creats corrosion, ie the pressure treated wood you use cannot touch the metal of your trailer, or it will corrode even faster, so you need to use special fastners and isolate it with plastic or some other inert barrier. |
