| We have an 2002 V8 8.1 3500 Chevrolet and an '01 Elite 3horse with LQ fully self contained.. Problem started on trip before last.. We have a jerking going up hill and worst getting to a stop. It is a jerking bucking type motion.. The plugs, wiring and new brakes on truck also installed a new Base Air Flow unit & filter. The truck transmission shifts very good with or without trailer. New brakes on trailer. The trailer is where it has always been and when parked on level spot it is level with truck. We have checked with others on how the coupler is on theirs and ours it the same.
We are at out wits end on this problem. I know gooseneck trailers have some jerk to them on bumps and such but this is a pretty good bucking and jerking when pulling up hill or coming to stop other wise it seems to be normal

   Location: Minnesota | I have pulled goosenecks thousands of miles and currently own three - none jerk and never have.
The only thing in your post that changed are "new brakes on trailer". That is where I would start. Find a good trailer shop and have them pull the wheels. |

| Thank You for your reply to my question.
We put new brakes on trailer, Bearings were packed of course. What would be the cause to pull the wheels? The trailer/truck just started doing this. After changing the fuel filter on the truck my husband unhooked the brakes completely and took the truck and trailer for a run up the hwy and it still did it. We've had the trailer for 11 yrs and it has pulled fine with the same truck, until now when going up a hill it bucks and jerks When coming to a stop it does it even worse.. We are at our wits end on this problem. |

| Thank You I will certainly relay the suggestion to my husband we are trying anything.. He is having a new Crank position Sensor and a Cam Shaft Sensor replaced to see if that will make a difference.

| Reading your first post, as far as truck or brakes go you have 2 issues. You list one under acceleration, and one when braking. Frankly I cannot imagine the truck's drivetrain causing the one under braking. Frame, hitrch, or such- sure. So I'd start with Paul's suggestion, and then get into some sensible troubleshooting before throwing a bunch of parts at it. |

  Location: Zionsville, Indiana | Please, please have someone who knows what they are looking at inspect the gooseneck structure. Failures have occurred for various reasons - broken welds, rusted through material, etc. Have the entire structure, from the ball to the lower front of the frame. gone over inch by inch. There are lots of possibilities with all of the welded joints and connections. |
