 | The left rear light on my 2005 Sundowner 727 g/n trailer is not working correctly. It works for the left turn signal but has no running light. I’ve been told that I have to replace the whole unit? This is an LED light ~ I’ve never had to replace either of these rear lights before. Any advice or help would be appreciated ~
 Thanks!

 | I am pretty sure that with LEDs you have to replace the assembly. It should have a molded plug that plugs into the back of the fixture. Take a meter ( or test light ) to make sure that you are getting 12 volts DC to the fixture. LEDs generally are reliable but do occasionally fail. |

 | How do I remove or access the light unit...can I remove it from the outside of the trailer? Like I said this is new to me and I’m trying to avoid having to take it a considerable distance to have it checked-repaired. It must be getting the current as it does present a turn signal and I believe the brake light also. Couldn’t check the brake light by myself last evening ~
 Thanks,,,

 | If it is the type that is surrounded by a rubber gasket, simply and gently pry the unit out....a little difficult to start but not too bad. |

 | The rubber gasket part is pop riveted into the trailer so does the red plastic light come out of that? This may be a job for super(sundowner)man, lol. It may require a little more skill than I possess. Maybe I can figure out how to put a picture of it on here if that is allowed.

 | If it is a riveted light, you will need to drill out the rivets. Then replace the entire assembly and re-rivet.
But- as has been mentioned here it may be worth checking power first. There is a removable panel inside the trailer that will let you access all of that wiring. And it comes off with Phillips screws. :)

And FYI- The turn/brake functions are the same wire and same "bulbs" in the light. The marker is a whole other set of functions and wire.

 | Try prying the plastic fixture out of the rubber gasket |

 | Try the emergeengy flashers. This you can do by yourself. That is the same bulb as the brake and turn signal. |

 | Thanks for all of the info shared I’ve learned a little more about all of this trailer light stuff. It is riveted in, there is a panel inside the tack room beside the door that I presume covers the wiring (doesn’t use Phillips but some other strange looking screws that I presume I can figure out, usually can) and ...I did turn the flashers on and they worked perfectly! Thanks for that tip ;-),,,that’s one I will definitely pass on to all of my cowgirl hauling-riding buddies. Any other tips will surely be appreciated!
