  Location: IL |  We recently purchased a 2006 Cherokee gooseneck 3 horse trailer. Unfortunately, there is only about 5 1/2 -6" clearance between the truck bed walls of our F-350, and the underside of the gooseneck. We looked into getting a kit and "lifting" the trailer ourselves, but husband says trailer does not have leaf springs, and kit won't work. We got a quote of $1300 from an auto repair shop to do the lift, but have no idea whether or not this is a reasonable price. Any opinions on what this should run? thanks! |

      Location: riverside ca | I would say that is about correct, especially if they did not bolt the axles to the trailer like most horse trailer manufactuers do.  |

     Location: Waverly,Oh | I had to lift my trailer 3" too. It has dexter axles [no springs] like yours. It took me about 6 hours to cut the old welds out ,grind it clean and weld the new 3 " square tubing in. It is not a big job. I suggest that you take your trailer to a good welder to get a quote. Doesn't need to be a trailer manufacture or a high dollar fabriction shop. I feel certain that you will have better welds from your local welder then you have from the factory.   |

     Location: Waverly,Oh | my trailer did not have a ramp , but it would change the angle a little. You could put some blocks under your tires ,same thickness as you plan on using to lift your trailer , then lower the ramp to see how it will affect it  |

      Location: AZ | Ours has a ramp...we did a 4" lift...a little steeper but it will be fine for horses and human use.

          Location: North Carolina | The "auto repair" shop is padding their estimate.  They have some uncertainty so need padding.    
  
My axles were bolted on.  New grade 8 bolts and 3x3 square tubing gave my trailer a 3 inch lift.  It a bit of a step for the horses but they manage.  
  
Take your trailer to a trailer shop or welding shop.  You'll get more and better information. |

      Location: Rayne, LA | I did not have to add a ramp. If my mules can't go the extra 3" in the trailer they will never make it in the mountains. I pull with a Peterbilt with a western hauler bed. |
