| I recently found a great Hart 3H GN (2015) that I am considering buying... I am also considering a Cimarron. I actually toured the Hart factory and was very impressed with the quality of their trailers. My only problem is the weight of the Harts is considerably more than what I currently pull (a Sundowner that weighs about 3700#). The Hart I am looking at weighs 6000#. I have a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4X4 (gas, not diesel, and not a dually) and I believe the towing capacity of the truck is just over 10,000#. At the Hart factory, I was told their trailer will actually pull easier than my lightweight Sundowner because of the axle placement. Although I rarely would pull 3 horses in the trailer, I worry that I would be pulling more than I should with my truck. I am not sure what the comparable Cimarron weighs but I believe they are a bit lighter. What do you all think of Cimarron quality compared to Hart? Or, should I just not worry about that extra weight? | |

Location: Zionsville, Indiana | The Cimarron is as close to a Hart as you can get, as both products were designed by the same engineer. Both top of the line trailers. As to the weight difference - more material, more strength, more weight, . You get what you pay for (usually). | |

| I own a trailer and have for some time. I did look at Cimarron, but was not impressed with the quality. Love my Hart and parts are easy to get. I also didnt like that the Cimarron is 6'10 wide. Not 7. | |

| I own a 2006 Cimarron and my dad and buddy have owned a slightly older model Hart. Both are nice. Both are built well. You can get either in built in any widths, style etc you want.
My Cimarron is very heavy and solid. I know the Harts are also.
Pick the one that is configured most to your need.
Like I said, neither will be light.
My 4 horse Cimarron, lined and heavy mats with 3 horses and 100 gallons water is 10,000 lbs. I think a hart would be similar.

Location: Valentine, NE | On our 3rd Hart and had one Cimarron. As previously mentioned, not much, if any difference. A few of the details (hold backs, latch placement, butt bars, window grills, etc) are different, but the structure framing, extrusions, and alloys, are basically the same. Cimarron has a better saddle rack, Hart has better latches, window grills, and butt bar. I like Cimarron running lights and interior/curb lights better.
We went to Cimarron due to price (after 2 Harts) but than went back to Hart due to our '09 Cimarron nose/drop wall kept coming apart. Cimarron warrantied it 2xs but I thought they did just the bare minimum to cover their butt. I will not own another Cimarron. It costs us at least a grand in down time, motel rooms, fuel, etc plus 4 days to get it fixed twice and they never so much said sorry......they did fix it under warrenty both times, but we had to take it to the factory a(1200 miles) and spend 4 days doing it.
?I don't think there would be any difference in the weight of identical trailers.

Location: South Central OK | They are on opposite ends of the same town and have the same workforce (they swap employees.) I would put them as equals. If you like a part on one just tell the other and they will use it if you want. I see more Harts hauling horses and Cimmarons hauling livestock but that's just me. I've been to both factories and custom ordered an Elite instead. Axle placement is the key to ease of operation in a trailer. The axle placement between my Elite and my dad's Featherlite are different and they don't pull alike at all. You can study the build sheet/floorplan of the trailers before buying and see where each has a pro/con, make a list and see what you've got to have. Have fun and build exactly what you want because it'll be in your rearview mirror for a long time! | |
