Location: Everton, Arkansas | Hello, I recently moved from NW Arkansas to the Tyler TX area and was wondering if anybody knows the standard rate for shoeing horses in this area. I contacted one guy and he is asking 50% than what I was paying in Arkansas. Both farriers are graduates of the Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School. I can't believe there is that just difference in cost of shoes, nails, etc...Just seems somewhat high to me. |

Location: South Central OK | I pay $125 for corrective front shoes and rear trim. The OK state farrier school is on the other side of town from me. My farrier was trained in Brazil and shod for a HUGE name horse ranch in Gainesville, TX. I've found that you get what you pay for...anyone can rasp and slap a pair of shoes on but if you wanted that you'd do it yourself. Shoes can make or break a performance horse, same reason you don't see athletes running track in stilettos. I had a neighbor that paid $1200 for corrective front shoes in north Texas with a foundered show horse. |

Location: Grapeland, Texas | I am in the Grapeland area, south of Palestine and pay $65.00 for front shoes, $90 all around and $25 for trims, so I don't think that's to high. My farrier broke it all down for me and I understood better why he charges what he does, and he's reliable, that means a lot. So many of them are not. |

Location: Conroe, Tx | I'm paying $50 for trimming all 4 and $185 for shoes on all four just North of Houston. A little more than I would like but the guy is very dependable and always gets to me when I need him. |

Location: Northern CA | Here in Northern California, I am paying $160-200. It is the going rate here. And that is not orthopedic either. Ugh. Time to leave this state |

Location: Rayne, LA | Loveduffy - is that for a trail ride saddle animal with no special needs? Adds a lot to the cost of pleasure riding for shoeing on time |
